The evaluation consisted of the excavation of 14no. 30m trial trenches at 1.8m wide. The results of the trial trenching supported the results of the geophysical survey. Other than a single, undated ditch in the northwest part of the site, no features of archaeological interest were encountered by the evaluation. Two small, parallel undated linear features on a north-northwest to south-southeast alignment, which correspond with linear anomalies shown on the results of the geophysical survey, are the bases of modern agricultural furrows or planting beds; two other parallel linear features, which were little more than shallow disturbances to the surface of the geological substrate, were also associated with agricultural activity. A possible undated pit or tree root feature was investigated near the centre of the site. There was no artefactual material in the investigated features or in the topsoil and subsoil and no deposits were encountered that were suitable for environmental sampling.
