A programme of archaeological investigation comprising Level 2 Building Recording followed by an enhanced watching brief on land at Manor Farm, Newton Regis prior to redevelopment. The buildings surveyed are with the exception of Buildings 1 and 2 recorded on the 1795-97 Enclosure map of Newton Regis and, with all the buildings subsequently recorded, on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1886, the buildings broadly being of 18th/19th century date. However, the large barn (Building 4) is clearly a relatively modern construction representing an enlargement of an earlier c.18th/19th century structure evident in the front and gable end elevations. The survey also recorded earlier bricks used within the construction of Building 3. It is unclear whether these are in-situ and represent the original earlier building or are re-used bricks employed in the construction. The Level 2 Historic Building Survey (Photographic) comprised the recording of four now redundant agricultural outbuildings undertaken predominantly from exterior viewpoints due to potential structural issues with the buildings. Whilst this prevented close or detailed examination of these buildings it is considered that due to the relatively small size and simple layout of their construction the survey has been able to provide an appropriate record of their form, date and function.
