In July 2009 ARCUS were commissioned by Severn Trent Water to undertake a fieldwalking evaluation along the route of a pipeline at Chesterfield, Derbyshire, (centred on NGR SK 355685). This was required as the pipeline had been laid without the archaeological monitoring requested by Derbyshire County Council. The scope of works consisted of walking the length of the topsoil stripped easement where it passed through fields to identify any archaeological remains and to recover artefacts. The area was of archaeological interest due to sites and find spots ranging from Neolithic to post-medieval in the vicinity of the pipeline route. No archaeological remains were identified or artefacts recovered.
