Abstract

Shallot peel waste is rich in bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, which have potential antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of shallot peel (Allium ascalonicum L.) microparticles used as a natural feed additive, on hematological parameters and oxidative stress in broilers. A total of 330 broiler chicks were randomly assigned to six treatment groups: a positive control group (basal diet + 0.1% zinc bacitracin), a negative control group (basal diet only), and four groups receiving shallot peel microparticles at 0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1%. The results showed that supplementation with shallot peel microparticles had no significant effect (P0.05) on total erythrocyte and total leukocyte counts, hemoglobin concentration, and hematocrit percentage.
