ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to assess the perspective of teachers on the Challenge of Physical Education in some selected private and government high School in Lemi Kura sub-city, in Addis Ababa. For study descriptive survey research design was employed along with qualitative and quantitative method. The researcher, government and private school were selected by census and simple random sampling method. From this sample school, 58 physical education teachers were selected as sample size from both private and government secondary. For this study questionnaire and interviews used as main tool of data collection. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage while content analysis approach was used to analyse qualitative data. The finding of the study revealed that, disparities between government and private schools concerning sports facilities and equipment. Government schools face more severe resource and facility issues compared to private schools, which also experience significant challenges. The widespread dissatisfaction across both sectors emphasizes the urgent need for increased investment in sports facilities and equipment, better budget allocation, and a reassessment of resource distribution and reveal key obstacles affecting PE effectiveness, such as inadequate resources, insufficient teacher training, negative attitudes, and large class sizes. Based on the results the researcher recommended that, all stockholder Increase funding for PE resources in both sectors to ensure equitable access to high-quality equipment and facilities. Significantly boost PE budgets, especially in government schools, for equipment and program development, concerning body Enhance PE teacher training through comprehensive professional development programs. Reduce class sizes by hiring additional staff or adjusting schedules. Reassess and adjust PE time in the curriculum. Reinstating PE in national examinations could boost its importance. Foster collaboration between schools to share successful PE strategies and practices were recommended.4
