The east gable will be examined both externally and internally and recorded in detail. Common Bank House was re-modelled during the early eighteenth century though whether Bay 4 was extant at this time is uncertain though the ground floor window in the south elevation would certainly suggest it had been built by the eighteenth century. Bay 4 is likely to have originally been a single storey addition with a loft over which had a roof of thatch, subsequently heightened to two storeys. The roof was later raised at the same time as the rest of the house. The wide fireplace and bread oven attest to it being a former kitchen though no secure dating evidence was encountered to establish the date of the fireplace or Common Bank House, Jetting Street, Fallgate, Milltown, Ashover, Derbyshire when it was reduced in size though it was clearly blocked, with the bread oven closed, during the 2002 renovation.
