The on-site works consisted of a Basic Level Historic Building Recording of Conchieton Mill. The record encompassed a photographic record, a written record and sketched plans and elevations of the existing structure. Conchieton Mill was a threshing mill constructed prior to the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map of 1854. It comprised two main elements: the main two-storey Mill and the adjacent Store and Wheel Pit. No substantial mill machinery remained in situ and the internal timber floors and fittings had all been removed prior to the survey. The remaining structure, however, contained surviving traces of the mill layout and later modifications. The two main elements potentially represent two successive phases of construction or modification, although if this is the case then they likely occurred fairly early in the mill's use. Later minor modifications were undertaken during the modern reuse of the building for storage and workshops.
