In July 2025, a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted by Heneb: ClwydPowys Archaeology to monitor the removal of topsoil within Ellerdine Lakes Fishery, Hall Farm, near Telford, Shropshire. Originally the proposed works involved the enlargement of two existing fish ponds and the creation of an additional two ponds. At the clients request, this was reduced to extending the western pond and creating a new pond to the north. No works were undertaken on the existing eastern pond, and the proposed new eastern pond was not excavated. Removal of the topsoil revealed part of a network of modern land-drains and plough scars cut into the underlying clay. A ditch running broadly north-south was identified as a modern drain. Frequent finds of sherds of CBM from ceramic field drains were encountered during the stripping of the topsoil/plough soil as well as a single ferrous horse shoe. No other finds were encountered. encountered
