The employment quality of graduates vocational education is a critical indicator of both economic vitality and social progress. Drawing on a large-scale questionnaire survey, this study conducts an in-depth examination of graduates’ skill levels, internship experiences, and the alignment between academic majors and personal interests. Using data from 17 technical schools in one province in 2023, the research explores key determinants of employment quality. Three dimensions—major–job alignment, starting salary, and job satisfaction—are employed as core indicators. The empirical results demonstrate that higher skill levels are positively associated with both major–job alignment and initial salary. Internship experience exerts a significant influence on major–job alignment and job satisfaction, while the degree of alignment between major and personal interest strongly affects all three dimensions. These findings offer evidence-based insights for enhancing graduate employability, reforming talent cultivation models in technical colleges, and advancing the high-quality development of vocational education systems.
