The U.S. Department of Justice has issued an interim final rule delaying the compliance deadlines for new web and mobile accessibility requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The rule extends by one year the deadlines originally established in a 2024 regulation requiring state and local governments to make their websites and mobile applications accessible to individuals with disabilities. Under the revised schedule, public entities serving populations of 50,000 or more must comply by April 26, 2027, rather than April 24, 2026. Smaller public entities and special district governments now have until April 26, 2028.
