In the first Communicable episode of 2026, Annie Joseph and Josh Nosanchuk invite Robin Patel and Fidelma Fitzpatrick to discuss some of their favourite clinical microbiology papers published in 2025. These six papers highlight everything from technological advances of genomics and molecular diagnostic testing to the importance of patient and public involvement in research as well as effective communication 1–6. The panel also discusses whether or not any of these papers have changed their practice.
