The objective of the study is to assess the land use structure in the country's agro-industrial complex. The work is aimed at identifying current obstacles and difficulties limiting the rational use of land resources; substantiating agrotechnological and organizational measures aimed at increasing the efficiency of agricultural land use; and developing approaches to the reclamation and intensification of abandoned and unused sites in the Russian Federation. The methodological basis is formed by fundamental scientific techniques - analysis, comparison and generalization of data related to the use of land resources in the agricultural sector of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030. The economic aspects influencing the involvement of new territories in the functioning of the agro-industrial complex have been established: the cost of commissioning abandoned lands (up to 120 thousand rubles per hectare); the existence of unused land shares owned by citizens; it is necessary to take into account climatic features, soil properties, territorial location, economic efficiency, as well as the availability of labor and other determining factors; Determination of land ownership; the need to abandon the regulatory division of land by intended use; transparency of the real estate market. Measures aimed at integrating abandoned lands into the agro-industrial complex of the Russian Federation have been identified: improving the regulatory framework, creating land reclamation and information systems at the local level, and eliminating the lack of financial resources to bring abandoned lands back into productive use.
