Constipation is the most common problem in children. It is one of the most common gastrointestinal complaints in children. It affects both physical health and psychological wellbeing of the child. Mothers play a very important role in prevention and control of any disease in children. Constipation which is a common problem in children may lead to serious complications if not treated on time `. So, mother must have knowledge to identify the signs and symptoms of constipation. This study aims to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding home Management on Constipation among the mothers of under five children. A Quantitative descriptive research design was adopted for the current study. Non-probability Convenience sampling technique was used for obtaining the adequate sample for the study. Study was conducted among 120 mothers of under five children who were attending Paediatric OPD (outpatient department). The data were collected by using a self-structured Knowledge questionnaire and 5-point Likert Scale. The result reveals that out of 120 mothers of under five children, 73(60.8%) had adequate knowledge, 44(36.7%) had moderate knowledge and 3(2.5) had inadequate knowledge,104(86.7%) had desirable attitude and 16(13.3%) had moderately desirable attitude towards home management on constipation. There was a moderate positive correlation (r=0.419) between knowledge and attitude. It was also found that the demographic variables did not show significant association between the level of knowledge and attitude regarding home management on constipation among the mothers of under five children at p<0.05 level. Based on the data analysis of the findings of the study, the study concluded that the mothers of under five children had an adequate knowledge and desirable attitude toward home management on constipation of under five children.
