The role of new extraction systems in liquid-liquid extraction methods is key and transforming. First and foremost, it is important to note the shift from classical water-organic solvent extraction systems to alternative two-phase systems based on water-soluble polymers, ionic liquids, and deep eutectic solvents. Recently, considerable attention has been devoted to the study of these compounds in extraction processes, due to their environmental friendless, as well as the unlimited possibilities for molecular design and integration into modern analytical schemes and technological processes. This work describes new extraction systems applicable to the selective recovery of strategically important metals and compounds from natural and industrial sources.
