This study examines the role of the Galeri Nasional Indonesia (GNI) in promoting nationalism and strengthening cultural resilience through art amid globalization. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research analyzes the GNI’s exhibition curation, educational programs, and international collaborations through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that GNI contributes to nationalism by preserving and exhibiting artworks that reflect Indonesia’s identity, history, national symbols, and cultural narratives. However, GNI still faces challenges such as limited public participation—particularly outside Jakarta—inadequate infrastructure, and competition with global popular culture. To address these issues, this study recommends strengthening digital platforms, expanding partnerships with educational institutions, and enhancing outreach programs to remote areas. By combining elements of traditional and modern art, GNI can continue to foster national pride, cultural awareness, and resilience. Overall, this study highlights the strategic role of national art galleries in preserving cultural identity amid globalization.
