Academic motivation and academic buoyancy are vital in shaping students’ engagement, resilience, and overall academic success. This study examined the levels of academic motivation and academic buoyancy among 194 Grade 12 students from the ABM, HUMSS, STEM, and TVL strands in a Catholic university in the Philippines and explored their relationship. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data were collected through standardized instruments and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman rank-order correlation. Findings revealed that students demonstrated high levels of academic motivation and academic buoyancy, with motivation largely driven by extrinsic factors alongside some intrinsic elements. Results also showed no significant differences across demographic variables. However, a significant positive relationship was found between academic motivation and academic buoyancy, indicating that more motivated students tend to be more resilient in facing academic challenges. These findings highlight the importance of fostering both motivation and resilience to support students’ academic persistence and adaptability.
