The article examines the role of land management, its goals, objectives, and key directions in making managerial decisions and implementing the State Program for the efficient involvement of agricultural lands in circulation and the development of the land reclamation complex. The dynamics of the land fund of the Russian Federation are analyzed by land categories over the past 15 years. The reasons for the withdrawal of lands from agricultural use and the non‑utilization of agricultural lands, including agricultural areas, are examined. The main directions for improving the content of land management under the current land relations in the country are formulated. The potential outcomes of implementing land management support for the spatial development of territories in the long term are identified.
