Abstract: The development of standards has been an important growth area for traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. This review will look at the four major organizations that have been instrumental in developing international standards for traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. The current standards developed by each of the four organizations will be reviewed and allocated into major categories to facilitate an overview of the focus of the standards and to determine how each of the organizations/associations has focused on specific areas. This review will also briefly introduce the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on standard development and how this may influence the development of future standards. Finally, this review will also look at the role of Australia in contributing to standard development over the last two decades.
