This study aims to examine the technical (terminological) concept of probabilistic interpretation of the Qurʾanic text، and to clarify the terminological roots employed by scholars when addressing certain texts that admit multiple interpretive possibilities. The research problem lies in identifying the various interpretive aspects that Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī presents for a single Qurʾanic verse، and in analyzing his method of investigating potential meanings from both linguistic and rational perspectives. The study adopts a comparative analytical methodology، by cataloguing these interpretive possibilities and comparing them with the views of other leading scholars on the basis of evidences and textual proofs. The study concludes by defining the terminological concept of probabilistic interpretation in its various forms and diverse derivations، in accordance with well-established، comprehensive، and regulated principles of uṣūl al-tafsīr. This approach، in turn، contributes to the expansion and inclusiveness of meanings. The researcher recommends expanding foundational studies on this type of interpretation، establishing its methodological framework، and clarifying its objectives and forms.
