Hatha Yoga provides scientifically documented benefits across 7 health domains, confirming ancient experiential observations with modern clinical evidence.
This review highlights the convergence between ancient experiential observation of Hatha Yoga and contemporary clinical evidence across multiple health domains.
This article presents a comprehensive evidence-based review of Hatha Yoga, examining seven categories of scientifically documented benefits through peer-reviewed research conducted between 2020 and 2025. The seven benefit domains examined are: musculoskeletal health (flexibility, strength, and pain reduction); cardiovascular health (blood pressure, heart rate variability, and vascular function); neuroendocrine regulation (cortisol reduction, HPA axis modulation, and stress response); mental health (depression, anxiety, and PTSD); cognitive function (attention, memory, and executive function); immunological function; and sleep quality. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras are examined as the foundational texts whose prescriptions have been systematically confirmed by modern laboratory research. The convergence between ancient experiential observation and contemporary clinical evidence is documented as independent verification rather than cultural promotion.
