The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the education system of India is reshaping traditional learning methods and fostering innovation in teaching, assestment and administration.AI-powered tools are enabling personalized learning experiences, adaptive curriculum and data-driven decision-making, thereby addressing the diverse learning needs of students across the country. From smart classrooms, automated grading and intelligent tutoring systems to language translation and accessibility support for differently-abled learners. AI holds significant potential to bridge gaps in quality and access to education Moreover, it assists educators in reducing administrative workload and focusing more on pedagogy and student engagement. However, challenges such as digital divide ,infrastructural limitations, ethical concerns and the need for teacher training remain critical barriers to effective implementation. In the Indian context, the adoption of AI in education is not a technological shift but also a socio-economic opportunity to promote inclusively, equity and skill development for the 21st century. This paper examines the role, opportunities and challenges of AI in transforming India’s educational landscape.
