The production and trade of the pre-Qin prestigious goods of proto-porcelain wares has been riveting the attention of scholarly research for decades. In much of previous provenance studies, however, it has been commonly assumed that products of the major production center of Dongtiaoxi and Wuyishan are geochemically homogeneous. Our previous studies, however, have upset this assumption by identifying geochemical differences within the two centers. This study continues to explore the geochemical complexity by analyzing samples from outlying sites of the Longshan Cluster of the Dongtiaoxi Center. As a result, we find two additional complexities: a spatial dichotomy in body composition between the two banks of the Dongtiaoxi River and a diachronic evolution in glaze recipe. In the meantime, by comparing with the Wuyishan Center, we find a few fingerprint elements. Altogether, we build up a more rigorous framework for future proto-porcelain provenance studies.
