Abstract The launch of Open Transport and Transport Phenomena marks the inauguration of two sibling journals with a shared scientific scope dedicated to advancing the science of flow, heat, and diffusion. While Transport Phenomena is offered as a classic library subscription journal with its hybrid open-access option, Open Transport is fully open access. Together, they give authors the freedom to choose their preferred publishing format without relinquishing their preferred editorships or compromising editorial standards. Our mission is to advance excellence in the transport sciences while fostering a supportive and inclusive scholarly environment. Guided by the core principles of excellence, ethics, and editorial independence, we are committed to treating authors as we ourselves would wish to be treated – with fairness, alacrity, rigour, and respect. Our partnership with De Gruyter Brill, whose long tradition of academic publishing aligns closely with these values, provides a strong foundation for developing these journals into leading platforms that serve, connect, and advance the global transport sciences community through shared knowledge.
