This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. Balwant Sanghera, the subject of this interview is an advocate and activist committed to promoting Punjabi education in Canada. His efforts led to the establishment of the Punjabi Language Education Association, with the main goal of advancing Punjabi education in Canada. In the full interview, Balwant Sanghera shares his journey as a teacher, expressing his belief that teaching can change people's lives.
