This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. Jarnail Singh Artist, the subject of this interview was a freelance artist with a career spanning over forty years. Born in India, he developed an early interest in art. Jarnail Singh's work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions. This interview has one promotional interview, in addition to the full interview. In the full interview, Jarnail Singh reflects on how he first began painting and discusses his influences. Through his art, Jarnail Singh aims to capture and celebrate the rich cultural heritage and experiences of Punjabis. Jarnail Singh passed away in 2025.
