CONTEXT: Improper Consider PIVC as Peripheral Intravenous Catheter. management can lead to complications such as phlebitis, infection, and catheter-related bloodstream infections. Nurses' knowledge and practice play a key role in preventing these complications and ensuring patient safety. AIMS: This study was conducted to assess nurses' knowledge and practice regarding PIVC care and identify factors influencing knowledge and practice. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A descriptive cross-sectional study was done among 95 nurses working in tertiary centres of inpatient departments. Participants were selected using a total enumerative sampling method, and data were collected through structured, pretested self-administered questionnaires from August to October 2025. The collected data were analyzed by the SPSS software version 22. RESULTS: The mean knowledge score regarding PIVC care was 18.49 ± 3.54, indicating generally good knowledge, whereas the mean practice score was 17.49 ± 2.75, reflecting an average to good level of practice. Higher knowledge was significantly associated with consistent PIVC practice (χ2 = 20.50, P < 0.05; Cramér'sV = 0.33). Educational qualification (graduate/postgraduate), <3 years of experience, and formal training were independent predictors of good practice (adjusted odds ratios = 2.85-3.90,2.7, and 2.9, respectively; <0.05). Age, gender, and work experience were not significantly associated with knowledge. CONCLUSION: The study found that nurses' knowledge and practice of PIVC care were primarily influenced by educational qualification and formal training. Graduate and postgraduate nurses, as well as those who received formal training, demonstrated higher knowledge and practice. Knowledge strongly predicted practice, highlighting the importance of education and training. Strengthening formal training programs and promoting evidence-based practices are essential to improve PIVC care and patient safety.
