Polycystic ovary disease affects up to 10% of women of reproductive age. It is a heterogeneous disorder associated with obesity for which the primary cause remains uncertain. It is the most common endocrine disorder. Genetic factors probably play a role since PCOD often affects several family members. The syndrome is named after cyst which forms on the ovaries of some women with this condition. So this is not a Universal symptom and not the underlying cause of the disorder. The diagnosis is made with the presence of two of the following three features: menstrual irregularity clinical or biochemical androgen excess, multiple cysts in the ovaries. Homoeopathic remedies like Pulsatilla, Sepia and Calcarea carb can be helpful for treating of irregular menstrual cycle and remedies like Thyroidinum,Oophorinum can be used in cases of hormonal imbalance effectively.
