Abstract: The present study explores the ecological consciousness embedded in Vedic literature and examines its philosophical relevance for contemporary climate action. Far from being merely ritualistic texts, the Vedas articulate a profound vision of the interconnectedness between humans, nature, and the cosmos. Through concepts such as ṛta (cosmic order), yajña (sacrificial reciprocity), and reverence for natural forces, Vedic thought offers a holistic ecological framework. This paper critically analyses selected Vedic hymns and Upanishadic insights to demonstrate how ancient Indian wisdom anticipates modern ecological ethics. It further argues that these philosophical principles can significantly contribute to contemporary discourses on sustainability and climate justice.
