Digital transformation has emerged as a crucial catalyst for economic growth, governance efficiency, and societal progress in the 21st century. In India, rapid technological advancements combined with large-scale digital infrastructure initiatives have accelerated the nation’s transition toward a digitally empowered economy. The Government of India has envisioned “Viksit Bharat 2047”, aiming to transform India into a developed nation by the centenary of independence. Digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, block chain, digital payments, and data-driven governance are playing a central role in this transformation. This study examines the role of digital transformation in shaping India’s strategic roadmap toward Viksit Bharat 2047. Using secondary data from government reports, academic research, and policy documents, the study analyses the impact of digital initiatives on economic growth, governance efficiency, social inclusion, and innovation ecosystems. The findings indicate that digital transformation enhances productivity, expands financial inclusion, strengthens digital governance, and fosters entrepreneurship. However, challenges such as digital divide, cyber security risks, and infrastructure disparities remain significant. The study concludes that strategic policy interventions, investment in digital infrastructure, skill development, and public–private collaboration are essential to ensure that digital transformation effectively contributes to achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.
