Pragmatic foundations for linguocultural units in literary translation

This article examines the pragmatic nature of linguocultural units and their role in literary translation. Special attention is given to the English translation of Shum Bola, focusing on culture-specific expressions, forms of address, realia, and colloquial language. The study analyzes the classification of linguocultural units, their pragmatic functions, and the translation strategies used to preserve cultural meaning and narrative effect. The findings highlight the importance of a pragmatic approach in maintaining cultural authenticity, humor, and reader interpretation in translation.
