Abstract

Alder Archaeology Ltd. were commissioned to undertake an archaeological evaluation on the site of a proposed new dwelling 90m North of Pittentian Farm, Crieff, Perth and Kinross PH7 3RU. The development area is a small plot of pasture measuring approx. 1200m2 centred on NGR NN 87624 20725 approx. 1.6km SE of Crieff. The work (site code CR21) was undertaken on 7th December 2023 in cold and dull conditions following rain. The requirement was to evaluate 10% of the available area, that is 120m� divided between 4 trenches. Special attention was to be paid to any potential buried Prehistoric features or artefacts. No Archaeological features or artefacts were noted during the survey and no modern finds were retained. Due to the nature of Prehistoric remains, there is still limited potential for small features to be present in unexcavated areas of the site but it is very unlikely that larger enclosure ditches or similar cross the site area.
