Shot peening in the aircraft field has two quality requirements: intensity, which is an index of the residual stress level applied to the surface, and coverage, in which the indentation by shots should cover 100% of the surface. There are multiple processing conditions to satisfy these requirements, and industrially, the shorter the processing time, the higher the efficiency. In this report, by optimizing the conditions including the size of the shot, which is a projectile, the method to set the optimum conditions with a shorter processing time was evaluated through tests. As a result, there is a suitable intensity level for each shot size, and it is considered that the shot peening processing time is shorter at that intensity level than at other shot sizes.
