The thematic of refuge gained greater international visibility in february 2022, with the start of the Russian-Ukrainian War, which forced thousands of people to leave their countries due to the war conflict, which still continues in that region. However, migratory flows, motivated by social and political conflicts, are not a recent phenomenon, but a historical process that has intensified significantly in recent years, becoming one of the world's biggest problems. With legislation that is welcoming and well regarded internationally, Brazil is part of the group of countries that grant refuge and, through Federal Law No. 9,474 of July 22, 1997, has defined instruments for implementing the 1951 UN Refugee Statute. Known as the 'Refugee Law', this law establishes the procedures for granting, terminating and losing refugee status, as well as defining the rights and duties of asylum seekers and refugees and developing permanent solutions for this specific group of international migrants. In this context, this research aims to analyze the evolution of the migratory flow of people in situations of refuge in Brazil since the implementation of the Refugee Law.
