Wardell Armstrong LLP (WA) was commissioned by the client, Lands Improvement to undertake a geophysical survey at Otley Road, West, Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury (NGR: SJ 4952 1012. The geophysical survey was required as a condition of planning consent. The geophysical survey was undertaken in accordance with a written scheme of investigation (WSI) produced in response to advice given by the Historic Environment Manager for Shropshire. The objective of the geophysical survey was to determine the presence/absence, nature and extent of potential archaeological features within the study area, and the presence/absence of any known modern features within the survey area, which may affect the results. The survey was undertaken over two days between the 24th and the 25th August 2020, and comprised of one field of pasture. The investigation revealed several possible soil filled ditches and pits which may date to the late prehistoric period. Survey undertaken over two days in August 2020.
