This record preserves bibliographic metadata and an institutional reference copy of the original description of the subgenus Lamellatiaxis Habe & Kosuge, 1970, and the species Latiaxis (Lamellatiaxis) marumai Habe & Kosuge, 1970, currently treated in Babelomurex. The publication is based on Latiaxis-group material obtained from Taiwan and reportedly collected from the South China Sea by trawling and coral-fishing boats. The material was examined through the courtesy of Masaji Suzuki of Maruma Shell Co., Tokyo. The work establishes Lamellatiaxis n. subg. for latiaxiid shells characterized by prominent axial lamellate sculpture and describes L. marumai n. sp. from South China Sea material landed at Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The holotype and paratype are deposited in the National Science Museum, Tokyo, under NSMT-Mo. 37301 and NSMT-Mo. 37302, respectively. The publication includes English and Japanese descriptions, diagnostic remarks, measurements, type locality information, a list of associated Latiaxis-group taxa from the same regional material, and text figures 1–3 illustrating the holotype. This record is maintained within the Institute for Molluscan Systematics (IMS) repository for taxonomic verification, nomenclatural documentation, bibliographic preservation, and non-commercial scientific research.
