Abstract The article focuses on a new section in the September 1, 1986 issue of the Journal of Information Systems that presents software packages suitable for use in an accounting information system (AIS) course. The objectives of this section are to review relevant software packages in terms of their classroom applications, existing support materials such as specially designed cases, and the available price breaks such as educational discounts or site licensing agreements. The editorial board of the Journal will target three or four software packages and other related materials that are particularly useful in an accounting systems course. They may involve classroom requirements to design system elements through the use of databases such as Dac Easy or Open Systems, to implement case assignments. Dac Easy Accounting combines in one integrated package seven accounting modules: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Purchase Order, Billing, and Forecasting. Open Systems Accounting Software has been well received by both the academic and business communities. It is the policy to provide fully functioning demonstration software to educational institutions at substantial discounts.
