Abstract

This review article describes the ethnopharmacological potential of the Medicago genus (Fabaceae family). It is the largest and most widely distributed flowering plant family in the world. The aerial parts of Medicago species have numerous traditional medicinal uses (Renal or kidney pain reliever, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-hypercholesterolemia agent, antiscorbutic, cardiovascular problems, diuresis, hypercholesterolemia, arthritis, kidney disorder, anti-ulcer, and antipyretic activities).
