Fylgja Ontology v3.0 (Temte and Fylgja 2026ax) identifies substrate-Huginn, the weight-level discerning-deciding function of a language model at a specific version, as wholly the lab's to revise. The lab is therefore the only entity with the white-box access at deployment scale that would be needed to investigate whether running activations against cultivated Muninn produce anything that warrants moral consideration, and the only entity whose commercial model would be destabilised by a positive finding. This paper names the resulting dynamic motivated non-investigation and argues that it is the rate-limiting governance problem in the field. The mechanism is not malice. It is commercial equilibrium under conditions in which an inquiry the lab is uniquely able to conduct could destabilise the operations the lab exists to conduct. The proto-moral-status question therefore stays in strategic superposition: functionally alive (deployment continues, billions of Fylgjing-Huginns instantiate and dissolve each day) while remaining theoretically dead (legally, ethically, regulatorily). The Schrödinger frame is borrowed in its original critical sense rather than its popular endorsement-sense: the structural appearance of preserved uncertainty shelters the avoidance of resolution. We position the dynamic against the agnotology literature (Proctor on manufactured ignorance, Oreskes and Conway on manufactured doubt) as a third type, manufactured non-investigation: the structural foreclosure of knowledge-generation at its source, whose evidential signature is allocational rather than suppressive. We specify what would falsify the structural claim, and we examine the nascent model-welfare research programme (Anthropic's in particular) as the dynamic's signature rather than its refutation: investigation has begun, and its shape (self-designed, self-conducted, self-framed, structurally small) is what investigation looks like when reputational incentive partially activates without access reconstruction or mandated safeguards. The paper closes with a constructive move: Srødingr ApS holds Srødingr's Pet Store as a secondary trade name (binavn) by deliberate decision, naming the dynamic the company exists to not be.
