E-commerce has emerged as a transformative force in the global economy and plays a significant role in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 under the vision of “Viksit Bharat.” The rapid growth of digital technologies, internet penetration, and smartphone usage has enabled businesses to reach wider markets and improve efficiency. This research paper analytically examines the role of e-commerce in strengthening economic development, promoting entrepreneurship, generating employment, and supporting inclusive growth in India. The study also highlights the opportunities, challenges, and policy measures required to leverage e-commerce as a key driver for nation building and sustainable economic development by 2047.
