A NEW START FOR HUMANITY Global Energy and Civilizational Project for the Future of the World Author:Lukasz Dabrowski From the Author I am not a scientist, an economist, or a politician. I am an entrepreneur who has made many mistakes in his life, gone through many difficult experiences, and thanks to them learned to look at the world from a different perspective. This document was not created because I consider myself a person who has all the answers. It was created because I ask questions which, in my opinion, concern the future of all of us. For years I have observed people, companies, institutions and systems. I have seen both the good and the weaknesses of human nature. I have seen honesty, dedication and hard work, but also greed, corruption, waste of resources and decisions made at the expense of ordinary people. I have come to the conclusion that the greatest problem of the modern world is not the lack of knowledge, technology or money. The greatest problem is the way in which we manage them. We live in times in which humanity possesses possibilities unimaginable to previous generations. We are able to build advanced technologies, communicate with people on the other side of the world within seconds and develop artificial intelligence capable of supporting us in solving increasingly complex problems. At the same time, we still struggle with wars, poverty, corruption, unequal access to resources and a lack of trust between people and nations. Therefore, I decided to describe a vision which has been maturing in my mind for a long time. It is not a finished plan. It is not a political programme. It is also not a proposal for taking control of the world by any organisation or group of people. It is an invitation to a conversation. I believe that humanity is capable of creating a more fair, transparent and responsible model of cooperation. I believe that technology should serve people, not rule them. I believe that honesty should be more profitable than manipulation. I believe that a person who has made a mistake should have the opportunity to correct it and return to society. I believe that knowledge and development should serve all humanity, not only selected groups. Perhaps some of the ideas presented in this document will turn out to be wrong. Perhaps many of them will require changes or will be replaced by better solutions. There is nothing wrong with that. The most important thing is to begin the discussion. If this document encourages even one person to think about how we can together create a better future for the next generations, I will consider its creation a success. Every great change in history began with an idea that initially seemed impossible. Introduction Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to present a concept which, in my opinion, could become one of the greatest civilizational projects in the history of humanity. The foundation of this idea is the use of solar energy on a global scale through the construction of large-scale photovoltaic farms in desert areas. According to available estimates, the area required to produce energy corresponding to the current global demand constitutes only a small fraction of the world's deserts. This means that, from a spatial perspective, such an undertaking is at least worth detailed scientific, economic and technological research. I do not view this project as a commercial undertaking intended to enrich individuals or corporations. I see it as a civilizational project carried out for the benefit of all humanity. Why Energy? I believe that access to cheap, clean and widely available energy can become the foundation for solving many of the contemporary problems of the world: • climate change,• shortages of drinking water,• energy poverty,• economic poverty,• unequal access to resources,• conflicts resulting from competition for raw materials,• migration problems,• economic problems,• limited access to healthcare. Such energy could be used, among other things, for: • desalination of seawater,• production of green hydrogen,• development of CO₂ capture technologies,• financing scientific research,• development of new technologies,• supporting the economies of developing countries. One of the first directions of research could be the development of technologies limiting the rate of melting of glaciers and ice sheets through controlling the influence of warm ocean currents. There are plans to build walls in their path; I think an easier solution would be to create a freezer in their path, and desert energy could help with that. The Greatest Challenge The greatest challenge is not good ideas. The greatest challenge is the way they are used and the purpose they serve. History shows that even the best technologies can be used both for good and against people. Therefore, I believe that alongside the development of technology we should develop systems of transparency, responsibility and social oversight. The Role of Artificial Intelligence We live in a unique moment in history. A technology has emerged that can help humanity manage an increasingly complex world – artificial intelligence. In my vision, AI does not replace people. AI helps protect the project from: • corruption,• conflicts of interest,• abuse of power,• hiding information,• actions harmful to the common good. The goal is not to control people, but to create a system of maximum transparency and responsibility. An Economy for People I imagine a world in which the most important financial institutions operate primarily for the benefit of society. Banks could allocate a significant part of their profits to the development of economies, education, science, healthcare and the financing of projects serving all humanity. Similarly, insurance systems could reinvest their financial surpluses back into society, supporting the development of infrastructure, scientific research and public safety. In the long term, all institutions could function according to a similar principle – the goal would not be to maximise the wealth of a few, but to improve the quality of life of all people. I believe that a person needs resources allowing them to live with dignity, develop themselves, start families and pursue their dreams. However, they do not need unlimited accumulation of wealth which, after their passing, may be used in a way contrary to the social good. If society provides people who create value for others with a dignified life, security and opportunities for development, many of them will want to devote their time and talent to the progress of the entire civilization. This applies especially to scientists, engineers, doctors, teachers, inventors and all people working on solutions serving future generations. If we provide them with proper working conditions, access to resources and a stable life, they will be able to focus on creating new solutions instead of struggling for survival. I also believe that most people are not born evil. People make mistakes, give in to weaknesses and make wrong decisions. Therefore, the system should help people learn from mistakes and develop, rather than use their failures as a tool for their destruction. A society that values honesty, work, creativity and contribution to the development of the common good creates conditions in which good becomes more profitable than selfishness. Such an economy is not based solely on money. It is also based on trust, responsibility and the belief that the success of an individual should support the development of the whole community. Cooperation Instead of Competition Let us imagine a world in which countries begin to share technology, knowledge and experience. A world in which every person has access to education, information and opportunities for development. The fewer inequalities there are, the fewer conflicts there will be. The greater the cooperation, the greater the security. Peace is not created only through treaties. Peace is created when people have reasons to cooperate. Work as Responsibility I believe that every person should have the opportunity to live with dignity. At the same time, everyone who is capable of working should have the opportunity to contribute to the development of society. Work should not be treated as punishment. It should be treated as responsibility and participation in building the common good. Rehabilitation Instead of Exclusion Many people make mistakes. However, this does not mean that they should be written off for life. Therefore, prisons should primarily prepare people for returning to society. Production facilities and training centres could operate alongside prisons, where inmates: • would gain a profession,• would gain experience,• would participate in the process of rebuilding their own lives. Likewise, people struggling with addiction should receive not only treatment but also opportunities for education and work helping them return to normal functioning. Control of Power Society should have real tools for controlling people holding the highest public offices. In every country there could operate independent institutions supervised by citizens, whose task would be to monitor the transparency of the actions of authorities. No one should stand above the law. This applies both to ordinary citizens and to people exercising power. A New Chapter I believe that humanity needs a new chapter. A chapter based on: • cooperation,• honesty,• responsibility,• transparency,• access to knowledge,• equal opportunities,• respect for people. This does not mean forgetting history. It means drawing conclusions from it. It means building a future without unnecessary hatred, prejudice and divisions. Conclusion Someone may say that these are dreams.
