Lymphedema is a chronic and progressive disease which significantly affects quality of life of the patients. Main treatment of the lymphedema is a rehabilitation therapy including complete decongestive therapy (CDT). Recently, physiologic surgical treatment using microsurgical technique has been popularized. Lympho-venous shunt (lymphatico- venular anastomosis, LVA) and vascularized lymph node transfer are the two main physiologic surgeries for lymphedema. In this review, overview of the two physiologic surgeries are described.
