Human mathematics, by every anatomical logic, should be base-10. And for counting itself, it is. But almost nothing else we measure runs on base-10. A foot is divided into 12 inches, not 10. A day is divided into 24 hours, not 20 or 10. An hour is divided into 60 minutes. A circle is divided into 360 degrees. A dozen — not a "ten-sen" — is the basic unit of bulk count across nearly every culture on Earth. Weight, in the oldest surviving standard still used for gold and silver, is measured in 12 troy ounces to the pound. None of this is base-10. All of it is base-12, or a direct multiple of base-12. If humans have ten fingers, where did twelve come from? This paper proposes a direct anatomical answer: base-12 is the full digit count of a body with three digits per limb across four limbs — the non-human intelligence (NHI) described in the oldest Mesopotamian record as the source of human mathematics, the Apkallu. Separately, the oldest and most famous expression of this transmission — Sumerian base-60 — is not the full body count of either party. It is the product of a hand-to-hand counting interface between two different kinds of hands: two tridactyl hands (3 + 3 = 6) belonging to the transmitting population, and two human hands (5 + 5 = 10) belonging to the population who received it. 6 × 10 = 60. This paper documents both mechanisms, traces the base-12 fingerprint across measurement, timekeeping, the calendar, and the ancient pantheons, and places it on the record for evaluation.
