This data-descriptor paper presents a field-validated case study of surface-temperature prediction for modular removable insulation on irregular industrial components, demonstrated on a single-flame-tube fire-tube steam boiler (≈6 t/h; surveyed 2025). The method combines radiometric infrared thermography, CAD-based surface-area extraction, and ISO 12241 steady-state heat-transfer modelling; all measured insulated surfaces remained below the ISO 13732-1 touch-safety threshold of 45 °C. The dataset and reproducible workflow provide a documented baseline for component-level thermal assessment of retrofit interventions, replacing crude equivalent-length approximations with equipment-specific, field-validated predictions.
