Dear Colleague, As the heatwave intensifies and temperature soar, one wonders how much more damage it will bring in its wake, be it water scarcity, heat stroke, or generally human misery of every sort. The irony is this: all of us are responsible for this agony of climate change. Time to wake up or too late? You decide. The first original article “How to win a young heart? A big data statistical analysis of cardiovascular disease risk factors in youth” by Dr Kulkarni and colleagues. is very topical as younger and younger people now succumb to the vagaries of coronary artery disease. A must read article. The second original article is titled “Towards accurate low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol estimation: retrospective comparison of 26 equations against the Friedewald equation in Indian laboratories” by Dr. Dipika Gujjarlapudi and colleagues. from Hyderabad, Telangana. This contribution will have wide repercussions as it analyses the problems with the use of the Friedewald equation. This work validated direct enzymatic assay in 17,379 Indian patients. Clinicians must take note. The third is a tribute to the father of Clinical Cardiology “Dr. Eugene Braunwald (1929-2026)” and here I am reminded, from school days of William Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar (Act 5 Scene 5) and I quote – “His life was gentle and the elements So mixed in him that nature might stand up And say to all the world, “This was a man.” What more can the editor say! The fourth contribution is a case report by Dr Akkineni and colleagues. titled “Bartter syndrome presenting with torsade de pointes: a rare manifestation.” This is more than a case report. It has a very scientific discussion on hypokalemia. A must read for residents in cardiology. The fifth contribution is also an interesting case report titled “Orthostatic hypotension from therapeutic-dose mirtazapine: a case report and clinical alert” by Prof Rahul Garg and Dr Mayank Butola. As the title itself suggests it is a “clinical alert.” The final contribution is by Dr Akkineni and colleagues. titled “Abnormal deployment of transcatheter aortic valve due to LVOT calcification.” It shows very clearly the value of imaging in transcatheter aortic valve implantation and the choice of the right hardware for a particular patient. A commendable case of TAVR in porcelain aorta. Hence, dear reader, this issue marks the demise of a true iconic legend and also underscores the true value of JCPC: From Clinical to Preventive Cardiology. Thanks,
