This article analyzes the main results of archaeological research conducted in the medieval rural areas of Central Sughd during the years of independence. The architectural structures, defense systems, remains of settlements, craft centers, and samples of material culture identified as a result of excavations at the monuments of Kurgan-tepa, Kuldor-tepa, Kafirkala, and Dabusiya are scientifically evaluated. As a result of the research, new information was obtained on the interaction of rural settlements of Central Sughd with cities, their role in socio-economic development, and their significance in the system of the Great Silk Road. The article highlights the importance of archaeological research conducted during the independence period in restoring the medieval history of the region, and summarizes their scientific results.
