This research paper, titled "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Accounting and Auditing: A Mixed-Method Study," examines how artificial intelligence (AI) tools are influencing audit quality, operational efficiency, and fraud detection capability within the accounting and auditing profession. The study uses a mixed-method research design. A structured survey was administered to 162 accounting and auditing professionals and analysed using descriptive statistics, reliability testing (Cronbach's Alpha), correlation, and regression analysis. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 senior accountants and audit partners, and the responses were examined using thematic analysis to capture professionals' real-world experience of working with AI tools. The quantitative results show a significant positive relationship between AI adoption and audit quality, operational efficiency, and fraud detection capability. The qualitative findings show that professionals view AI mainly as a supportive tool rather than a full replacement, while also raising concerns about training gaps and the risk of skill loss among junior staff. The paper concludes with practical recommendations for accounting firms, regulators, and accounting educators.
