This resource, Deliverable 5.3A of Work Package 3 (WP3) of the emc2 project, presents the UPMsmart methodology as a specialised form of the recognised UPM technique, in addition to analysing historic linear settlements by applying this UPMsmart methodology. Using the UPMsmart methodology - a specialised approach developed for this project - CAD-based 3D models of historic linear settlements were created for three different time periods (the 1820s, 1910s and 2020s). The modelling of sections of four distinct settlements was conducted on the basis of typological prototypes. These are produced utilising a combination of contemporary and historical map data, as well as street-level surveys and historical photographs. In addition to incorporating spatial characteristics, the uses of the ground floor were reconstructed with the help of cartographic material and historical address books. The deliverable comprises a comprehensive description of the approach, the underlying source data, the UPMsmart framework and modelling protocol, as well as the visualisations and analyses of the settlements studied. This resource was produced within the emc2 project, which is funded by ANR (France, grant ANR-23-DUTP-0003), FFG (Austria, grant FO999905461), MUR (Italy, grant 2024/0017648) and Vinnova (Sweden, grant 2023-02581) under the Driving Urban Transition Partnership, which has been co-funded by the European Commission.
