This paper presents a structured comparison between Michael Levin’s “cognitive light cone” framework and Contradiction Dynamics, a universal behavioural model developed independently of biology. Levin proposes that intelligence emerges across biological scales through distributed, goal‑directed behaviour, while Contradiction Dynamics models all system behaviour as the resolution of contradictions across nested loops with attractors, horizons, and transition operators. The paper demonstrates that Levin’s cognitive light cone is structurally equivalent to the contradiction horizon defined within Contradiction Dynamics, and that Levin’s continuum of intelligence corresponds directly to the continuum of contradiction‑resolution capacity across scales. By mapping Levin’s biological mechanisms onto the Carlo framework, the paper shows that Levin’s observations are a special case of a broader universal dynamic applicable to biological, physical, computational, environmental, and social systems.
