Women's empowerment has become one of the most important themes in contemporary literature. Many contemporary women writers have presented the struggles, dreams, and achievements of women in their literary works. Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is a prominent Indian diasporic author who writes about women's emotional, social, and cultural experiences. Her novel The Mistress of Spices is about Tilo, a woman with special knowledge of magical spices, which she uses to assist others. The novel explores themes of women's identity, freedom, self-confidence, and the courage to make independent choices through Tilo's story.This study looks at the theme of women's empowerment in The Mistress of Spices. It explores how Tilo fights against social expectations, traditional roles, and personal sacrifice to find her identity. The paper also talks about the challenges immigrant women face, like loneliness, cultural conflict, discrimination, and the search for belonging in a new country. The study shows how Divakaruni portrays women as smart, caring, and able to change their lives, not as weak or dependent. This research uses a qualitative and descriptive method based on a close reading of the text and the study of relevant books and research articles. Feminist literary theory is the main approach used to understand women’s experiences in the novel. The study concludes that The Mistress of Spices is a powerful novel that encourages women to believe in themselves, challenge unfair traditions, and achieve self-realization. The novel presents empowerment as a journey of confidence, responsibility, freedom, and personal growth, rather than just social or economic independence.
