The scientific article examines the socio-economic problem of unused agricultural land, which hinders the socio-economic development of rural areas, limits employment growth, hinders the formation of the income base of municipalities and the effectiveness of the use of regional resource potential. The authors have analyzed scientific approaches to the problem of unused land. Modern digital methods for conducting a continuous rapid survey of arable land are compared, which have replaced the traditional ones, and given the scale of the number of plots that need to be put into circulation during the implementation of the state program, maximum automation of surveys and assessments is absolutely necessary. A set of measures to involve unused agricultural land in the turnover is being gradually revealed. Pilot projects are given as an example, one of which has a target for the involvement of arable land for 2026. Suggestions are given on the expediency of including lands in the list of objects to be involved in regional agricultural turnover.
